The six things everyone asks
Is it cheaper than excess baggage on the flight?
For anything over one bag, yes, and by a long way. Airline excess baggage from Kuala Lumpur to India runs RM 75 to 110 per kg at the airport. Our sea price works out under RM 10 per kg for a full carton, delivered to your door.
Will my boxes get lost or damaged?
Every box is numbered, labelled, weighed and listed on your packing list before it leaves your room. We use double-wall cartons, wrap breakables and keep books flat. You can add transit protection for a few ringgit, and you track every stage by booking ID.
What about Indian customs and duty?
Your used clothes, books, bedding and your laptop are used personal effects, which India clears duty free with no value limit. Our customs broker files the declaration for you at Chennai. Duty applies only to new or high-value items you declare, and the receiver pays it if charged. We never promise a customs outcome.
How long does it take?
Sea with your batch: 4 to 6 weeks from packing to your door. Air: 7 to 12 days. The batch page shows the exact dates for the next window.
Can I fly home before the boxes leave?
Yes. Most students do. Indian customs allows boxes to arrive up to two months before you or to be sent within a month after you land. We store your boxes free for 14 days and time the batch to fit.
Can my parents pay from India?
Yes. Pay the 20% advance by UPI from India or DuitNow QR in Malaysia. The balance is due after packing and weighing, before the boxes leave. Parents get the tracking link and WhatsApp updates too.

We have done this before
Get My Bag started in 2020 by moving MUCM students' bags between Manipal and Melaka. Between December 2020 and March 2023 we packed and shipped over 530 student shipments in six sea consignments, about 36 tonnes, campus to campus. Now we run the route home.

Questions students ask
- How much luggage will I actually have?
- More than you think. Students in our batches guessed 30 kg and packed a median of 63 kg in 3 cartons. A box of textbooks alone is 22 to 25 kg. Use the estimate with the category buttons for a realistic figure.
- Why does it cost this much?
- The price covers cartons and packing at your room, pickup, Malaysian export clearance, the sea or air leg, Indian customs clearance by a licensed broker, and Delhivery to your door. The only things outside it are Indian duty on new items, optional protection and storage beyond 14 days.
- Is the estimate the final price?
- No. The final price is set when the boxes are packed and weighed in front of you on packing day. We count the boxes, show you the weight, and the price follows the same rate sheet you saw online.
- Can the price go up after I book?
- Only if you ship more than you estimated, and you see that at the scale on packing day. The rate per carton and per kg is fixed by the rate sheet you booked on.
